First trailer starts its journey
On Saturday, February 26, 8:20 am (UTC) our first trailer left the port in Southampton, UK, to be shipped to Greece.
The first of two trailers has just left the shores of the UK to be shipped to Greece for its trial run. The second trailer will follow in a few months. After the field trials with animal waste in Greece, the trailers will then make two more stops (crop waste in Italy and municipal wastewater in Malta) before returning to the UK for a final test with food waste.
The idea behind this variety of waste streams and countries is to test the equipment with a variety of typical biogas feedstocks and also to learn about country-specific challenges, ranging from regulatory bottlenecks to geographical or contamination challenges.
